The Dumangin have lived in the Champagne area and worked in the vineyards for several centuries.

The first bottles were produced around 1895 at a time when selling grapes to the wine merchants proved difficult.

But vineyards were hit by philoxera and the crops were reduced.
Though the vineyards were later completely restored to health, the sales growth was slow because of the World War I and of the economic crisis in the 1930s.
Marketing actually started developing in 1960, especially on foreign markets.
The renown of the House of Jean Dumangin was definitely established with a remarkable Millesime, the 1964 vintage.
