Vineyards

The Jean Dumangin Champagne House manages 8.5 hectares of vineyards, six of which are classified ‘Premier Cru’, in the heart of the Grande Montagne de Reims in the Chigny-les-Roses area.

Comprising one third of each Champagne grape variety, our balanced vine planting selection allows us to make the blends required to create a comprehensive range of Cuvées.

Since 1991, there has been a 2.5-hectare plot in the hillside vineyards of Couvrot (Coteaux Vitryats). Entirely planted with Chardonnay grapes, this chalky terroir gives birth to our "Brut Blanc de Blancs Terroir" and "Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Terroir" Cuvées.

Fermenting cellar

An accredited quality pressing center was added to the old cellars in 2000. Modern technologies go hand in hand with tradition in our constant quest for perfection.

Sorting of the grapes at the time of picking, automatic plate wine press, controlled fermentation temperatures: the greatest attention is paid to each step in the wine-making process. The equivalent of half a harvest is kept as reserve wine and each vintage benefits from several years’ ageing in the bottle.

High Environmental Value Certification

The Jean Dumangin Champagne House is committed to an environment-friendly approach. The aim of this pro-active approach is to produce in improved conditions as well as to respect and maintain natural balances ; this is why we reduce inputs and we now till the soil. Thanks to proper cultivation practises, the ecosystem is preserved and this favours greater biodiversity. The 'HVE' certification (guaranteeing high environmental value) allows the Jean Dumangin Champagne House to officially defend the biological balance of its vineyards.
